With the onset of Covid 19 in February of 2020 businesses around the world were drastically affected overnight. At that time nobody knew how transmissible the disease was, nor the best ways to prevent the spread. What was known however was that masks could greatly reduce the risk of infection. The problem was that N95 masks could not be obtained as all store stocks were sold out, and there was not enough global production to meet the instant massive demand.
At this time however, Kerry and Cliff were also managing a small business selling “Bioscarfs” which were scarves that had an N95 filter inside them. Up until this time the scarves were sold to customers looking to protect themselves from smog in the winter time. At this time “Bioscarf” did not have a mask product in mass production, so could not supply masks. But Kerry and Cliff had a lot of stock of the scarves from the prior year.
As a result, we decided to do our part under the Anatomic Care’s program to provide some much needed masks. We cut up the scarves, and from each scarf made 5 to 6 N95 masks. These masks were then delivered to local hospitals, police stations, schools, and all our staff. We also provided care packages for many of our clients, providing them with masks for their staff. Along with the masks we also prepared small re-fillable glass bottles of hand sanitizer that people can take with them and use while out shopping to help prevent the spread of the disease.
Overall our objective was to help protect front line workers, our staff and our clients from the disease. It was a great success and all of our “Covid 19 crew” pulled together to deliver a great added service to our community.
